The Greek

The Greek

-Greeks barbarian had distinctive way of life
-about 2000 B.C. they moved into southeastern Europe to reach easily to the people of Asian Minor, Mesopotamia, and Egypt
-about 800 B.C. Greek civilization occurred based on the Mediterranean sea and the Indian Ocean
-their art forms and the types of government influenced on Western civilization and has lasted down to the present day.
-like Sparta and Athens Greek city-states citizens participated in the government.
-shortly after 500 B.C. they developed methods of fighting to preserved themselves from the kings of Persia

The European Barbarians

-civilization had spread from Sumerian and Egyptian->Southwestern Asia and Northeastern Africa
-civilization also had risen in India, China and the Western Hemisphere.

The earliest European

-prehistoric village->agricultural revolution(include Europe)
-4000 B.C. farming and village life had spread-> increase in population and wealth ->3500 B.C well organized enough construct ceremonial monuments
-many of megalithic structures and traces of furrows in the soil discovered by archaeologists(evidence of argricurtral tol, the plow)
-Stonehenge-four circular or horseshoe-shaped huge open-air monument built by a prosperous farming and trading people in the Western England.
      -It aligned to the movements of the sun and moon
      -standing structure still today is testimony to the level o f wealth, organization and skills.
      -it was repeatedly rebuilt over a period of several hundred years 

The Barbarian Way Of life

-from about 2500 B.B. Indo-European peoples moved Europe
-instead of their earlier language, settled people before Indo-European came, began to speak language of Indo-Eurpean origin in that were the distant ancestors of Greek and Latin
-warriors became gods of fatherhood and thunder, metalworking and war
-when leader warriors died, his belongings(horses, chariot, swords, daggers, and gold and silver drinkking cups) would all go to the grave so that he could go riding, fighting and drinking in the after-life
-woman went to war to bring food and bind warrior's wounds and force them back into the fight if they panicked an sometimes to join in the fighting
-European groups of village or farmsteads formed tribes
-They had more or less powerful hereditary chieftains, whom considered as kings or queens by Greek and Roman observers
-they exported metals, slaves,, and other items to Asia Minor, Mesopotamia or Egypt to in return for some luxurious of civilization
-overpopulation and famine caused massive armed migration such as Sea Peaples.
-Greek "barbaros" = non-Greek
-Greek developed civilization to their own->"Western"

The Aegean Encounter

Minoan civilization

-Aegean region such as Palestine came from a combination or grain field, vine-yards and olive graves that was common throughout the Mediterranean lands
-southeastern Europe whic h is also Aegean region was rich in metals and timber
-Minoan civilization
    -about 2200 B.C. Minoan civilization arose on the Aegean island of Cretee

The arrivial of the Greeks Mycenean civilization

-when Hitties conquered Anatolia, Indo-European-speaking people arrived in the Aegean(the Greek) and found new homeland and finally influenced be Crete bu 1600 B.C.
-Mycenaen civilization arouse from some of the islands which is fortified by Greek chieftains
-Mycenaens adopted Minoan civilization's writing
-Myceanaean struggled wit the Minoans for controlling eastern Mediterranean sea and it ended about at 1400 B.C.
